Former world number one, Kim Clijsters, will be retiring from the professional tennis after the completion of the US Open Championships at New York. She has been a terrific player and still considered to be one of the toughest competitors at a professional platform. The Belgian superstar has decided to put an ending to her marvellous career at the age of 29 and the sad but memorable moment for the tennis fanatics will take place at Flushing Meadows.
Belgian?s fellow competitor, Maria Sharapova, was completely flattered by the supreme authority of Clijsters at tennis courts. She commented, ?What?s there to say about Kim? There are so many great things besides the fact she?s been an incredible tennis player and champion. She?s someone that went away from the sport to commit herself to being a mother and a good wife and then coming back and being a professional and winning a few more grand slams.?
The Russian blonde further added, ?She was always so focused and determined. One of the best athletes the game saw in women?s tennis and just a really great person, very humble; at the end of the day, just a down-to-earth person that reflected on life in a very good way.?
It will definitely be a moment of gratitude and honour for Clijsters to receive a final round of applause from the fans at the hard courts of New York. She has been one of the best tennis player to have graced the sport; her dedication and willpower to succeed at all platforms is worthy of an applause. Sharapova definitely said it straight forward and kept no secrets that she was a kind of a role model for her in the early days.
Clijsters is mother of one child and wants to prosper her family further and grace her husband with another beautiful offspring. It requires utmost attention to raise a kid. In 2007, the Belgian superstar showed her interest to be a good mother by dedicating two and half year?s; detaching from professional tennis so that she can give all the time to the new born.
Clijsters is a great player and an awesome companion.
