London shares fell at the start of trading on Monday following a rebound on Friday and boost in Asian markets overnight.
The benchmark FTSE 100 index was down 0.16 percent to 5,778.11 points.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.29 percent to 6,845.88 points and in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.19 percent to 3,367.81 points.
European stock markets closed sharply higher Friday on better-than-expected US jobs data and a more positive view of the European Central Bank's stand on the eurozone debt crisis, traders said.
