Local Coach Shot in Tuscaloosa Talks to Local 15 News

(MOBILE, Ala.)?? One of the local coaches shot at The Copper Top in Tuscaloosa spoke to Local 15 News about the terrifying ordeal. Volunteer Vigor coach TeBarius Gill, 25, was shot once above his right hip. He says seeing the gun pointed at him is a moment that will continue to haunt him.

"It's shocking and unbelievable," said Gill.

Gill, along with Vigor defensive line coach Renardo Jackson and some friends, was standing outside by the front door, getting ready to leave when the shooter came around the corner and opened fire.

"I turned around. The gun was pointed dead at me. Next thing I know, I just threw, my friend she was on the side of me and I push her down got on top of her. As I was going down, that when I got shot," said Gill.

A single bullet entered Gill's back just above his right hip and exited out the front side of his body. He's lucky he only needed a few stitches.

"I'm fine. I'm still a little shook up every now and then," said Gill.

Jackson is still in the hospital. He was shot four times in the leg and needed surgery but is expected to be ok.

Gill says it doesn't help when he turns on the news and sees surveillance video of the shooter walking to the bar, weapon in hand.

"When I watch the video, when he's walking to the bar, it just does something to me," said Gill.

Gill was discharged from the hospital Thursday.

The coaches are in Tuscaloosa with Vigor players for a football camp.
