Dell Inspiron series of laptops and notebooks is immensely popular among Indian students. The series will soon begin shipping with Canonical?s uBuntu operating system pre-installed. Until now, most of the Dell laptops would sell with Microsoft Windows OS installed on the machine. The latest move is sure to excite geeks who didn?t want to pay for Windows but had no choice until now. uBuntu is open source OS and it?s likely to bring the prices of Inspiron series laptops down.
Canonical and Dell had joined hands last year to launch the uBuntu powered laptops in China. With Dell launching uBuntun, UK based Canonical makes an official entry to India. uBuntu installed laptops are expected to be available for display at all Dell outlets all over India soon. We do not have updates on the official pricing of the Inspiron series with uBuntu, but we expect it to be significantly lower than those with Windows 7.
